FIRE/LAND: KNOWING THE TERRITORY

DOGON - 40 years of progressive ambient collaboration

Fire/Land: Knowing the Territory is an original "art-rock opera" by Paul and Ameera Godwin that weaves music, poetry, and visual storytelling into an ecological journey. Drawing from Indigenous land practices, contemporary fire science, and lived experience of wildfire, the work explores the ways fire shapes identity, culture, and resilience. The opera invites audiences into a deeper relationship with land — honoring both its fragility and its power to renew. The work premiered at Wakamatsu Farm in 2023 with actors and Main Street Collective performing.
